GYST Baby

Medical & Safety Disclaimer

Effective date: July 4, 2026 · Version 1.2

Please read this carefully. By using GYST you confirm that you understand and accept everything in this disclaimer.

GYST is educational — it is not medical advice

GYST Baby, owned and operated by GYST Baby LLC ("GYST," "the app," "we," "us," "our"), provides general educational and organizational information to help expectant and new parents keep track of common appointments, milestones, to-dos, and gear decisions. Everything in GYST is a suggestion and a starting point for conversation — never a directive, diagnosis, treatment plan, or professional medical, nursing, nutritional, mental-health, or safety advice.

GYST is not a doctor, midwife, nurse, dietitian, lactation consultant, child passenger safety technician, or any other licensed professional, and using GYST does not create any clinical, professional, or fiduciary relationship between you and us.

Always confirm with your own healthcare professional

The information in GYST is general in nature and may not fit your specific situation, your pregnancy, your body, or your child. You must independently verify and cross-check any health-, safety-, feeding-, or development-related information with a qualified healthcare professional who knows you and your child before relying on or acting on it. When your provider's guidance differs from anything in GYST, follow your provider.

Do not delay or disregard professional care

Never disregard, avoid, or delay seeking professional medical advice because of something you read or saw in GYST. The app's schedules, reminders, questions, and facts are organizational aids only and are not a substitute for the judgment of your care team.

In an emergency

If you think you or your child may be experiencing a medical emergency, or if you have concerns about your or your baby's health or safety, call your healthcare provider or your local emergency number (911 in the U.S.) right away. Do not rely on GYST in an emergency. For mental-health support in the U.S., you can call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). GYST cannot and does not provide emergency services or real-time monitoring of any kind.

Sources, accuracy, and currency of content

The starter content in GYST is modeled on commonly published U.S. guidance (such as ACOG-, AAP-, CDC-, and CPSC-style materials) and is intended to be reviewed by licensed professionals before public release. Medical and safety guidance changes over time. We do not warrant that any information in GYST is accurate, complete, current, or applicable to you, and information may be simplified, generalized, or out of date. Baby size/weight comparisons and similar figures are approximate and illustrative only.

Developmental milestones are not a screening or diagnosis

GYST includes developmental milestone checklists and tips modeled on the CDC's "Learn the Signs. Act Early." program and AAP guidance. Milestones describe what many children (75% or more) do by a given age — they are ranges, not deadlines, and GYST's checklists are not a developmental screening, assessment, or diagnostic tool. Checking or not checking an item in GYST has no clinical meaning. Formal developmental screening happens at well-child visits with your child's own clinicians. If your child is not meeting milestones, has lost skills they once had, or anything concerns you about their development, talk with your pediatrician promptly — do not wait, and do not rely on this app.

Not a medical device

GYST is a general-wellness and organizational tool. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent any disease or condition, is not a medical device, and has not been evaluated or cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or any regulator.

You assume the risk

You understand that pregnancy, childbirth, infant and child care, feeding, sleep, product selection, and related activities carry inherent risks. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you use GYST and any information in it at your own risk, and you assume full responsibility for all decisions you make and actions you take. Our liability is limited as described in the Terms of Use.

You agree not to rely solely on GYST

By continuing, you acknowledge and agree that you will not rely solely on GYST for any medical, dietary, mental-health, developmental, safety, or purchasing decision, and that you will use GYST only together with — and subordinate to — the advice of your own qualified professionals.
